President's Cup Winner
CHAIRMAN
~ SUZI OLSEN ~

As busy as March was, April will be a nice respite.  As you know, the course will be undergoing its semi-annual poking and prodding for the first two weeks. Lucky for us, Sherri Romito and LaVaughn Gilkey have planned a fabulous getaway to Rancho Bernardo on the 7th and 8th so we don’t suffer the effects of golf withdrawal!  About three dozen of us will golf, eat, drink and be merry and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the facility.  I am soooo looking forward to it!  Keep in mind that we will still have a Playday on the 10th, even though aerification may still be going on.  By the time April 17th rolls around, the course should be in fine shape for our “April Showers” Guest Day.

It was wonderful to see so many of you at the April General Meeting (held last week due to course closure). We covered many issues starting with a review of the amazing  online “ForeTees” system, which by now many of you have used.  Keep in mind that as of now, only the Saturday playday sheets will be posted for sign ups in the locker room;  no other actual sign up sheets will be posted.  As always, you have the option of calling or stepping in to the Pro Shop to make a tee time.   Within the next week or so, the Pro Shop should take delivery on the new scorecards.  As sampled at the meeting, they are a tri-fold design, color- coded, and include a name change for two of the Ladies’ Tees: the White Tees are now called the “Championship” and the Bronze Tees become the “White/Red”.  The new tee markers on the tee boxes will reflect these changes; no more combination bronze/white or bronze /red tee markers will be used.  Ahhh...simplicity!!

Thanks to spectacular support for the  “M &M” Member -Member, about 70 of us will be relaxed and enjoyed  the fruits of our labor as the results of this popular event were announced.  (view “winner results” ). We were thrilled that several teams of 9-holers experienced the fun of an eclectic format this year as well!  A huge thanks go to Shana Martensen for her creative Sign Up board and to coordinators Connie Merlis and Carol  Warlick for putting on such a great event.

I cannot close without saying thanks again to all of you who so graciously congratulated me on my Presidents Cup win.  It was an amazing day and made for an unforgettable birthday week!   You’re the best!   See you out there.............Suzi

~ PLAYDAYS ~
JUDY DAVIS & KATHY LYONS

A big "THANK YOU" goes out to our March hostesses; Elena Miller, Mary Frances Winton and Patti Stringer.  They not only coordinated the Play Days but helped with our President's Cup Luncheon.

Hopefully you have had an opportunity to familiarize yourself with our new ForeTees On-Line Reservation System.  We can now plan our Play Days for the rest of 2008.  The Pro Shop will input the “Game of the Day” your hostess committee has chosen for Play Days then ladies can sign up on line or in the Pro Shop seven days in advance.

Shana Martensen, Cici Barry and Sue Pebley are the lucky hostesses for April and the first to try out the system after the introduction of ForeTees.  If any of you need assistance with this program, please give me a call.

The M&M Eclectic
THE M & M ECLECTIC
~ CAROL WARLICK ~

Apparently the inclusion of chocolate candy in an event makes our ladies really want to play. We had a terrific turnout for this event, 74 participants. Many of them dressed in bright colors and M&M regalia.

This year for the first time we even had some of our 9-holers participate in the event. I heard by the grapevine that there was some fierce competition going on in their “Mini” flight. There was plenty of competition and some terrific golf shots in the” Plain” and “Peanut” flights as well. Just take a look at the winning scores! I wish I could shoot a score like that on my on!

Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all of you who participated and made this a fun event.

NINE-HOLERS
~ KATHERINE SZEM ~

Welcome to our 4 new 9-Holers: Laura Ristoff, Diane Combs, Sherry Blower and Kellie Gonzales.  We now have 30 9-holers.  We had a wonderful time in March and launched our 9-Holer Member/Member Eclectic.  Playing as teams were:  Julie Roth & Maria Appleman, Paula Staff & Carol Grisanti, Ute McGlothlin & Linda Danto and Elizabeth Thiergartner & Laura Ristoff.  The winning team was Paula Staff and Carol Grisanti with a 9-Hole net par score of 26!!!

Don’t forget that there is no Tuesday Play Day on April 1 since the course will be closed.  9-Holers can participate in the Guest Day on April 17.  You will just have to have a valid WSCGA index # and play to a 36 handicap.  So if you have a friend that you would like to invite to play at Marbella, the Guest Day is perfect opportunity to do that.

Please spread the word of our 9-Holer program with the Tuesday Play Days and the General Meeting Day Clinic, golf and lunch.  It is truly a fun and exciting way to learn how to play golf.   Just call me at 949-248-1456 or e-mail me at kszem@earthlink.net
