CHAIRMAN
~ SUZI OLSEN ~
Just as I
suspected, July has indeed been a busy month! We are in the midst of our Ladies’
Club Championship, which always proves to be a test of not only our game, but our patience and endurance! Bravo to all the ladies to signed up for this challenging competition, and double bravo to Linda Travis
and her excellent committee. At our next very scaled down General Meeting, August 7th, we will toast the winners
with a champagne reception. Please be sure to sign up on Foreees and join in
the celebration.
Congrats
go to Sue Pebley and Robert Soules for recapturing the Couples Club Championship honors last weekend. After 2 days of an eclectic format, they prevailed once again. Way
to go!
For those
of you who may not know, our locker room has been “under siege”! Broken
pipes have wreaked havoc once again, and our storage room now resides in the main area!
GM Rick Adams seems to have the situation well in hand, and hopefully by next week, new flooring, and rebuilt shelving
units will be in place and we can get back to normal. Thank you Marie aka “closet
lady” and Georgianna for helping to move things around!
Your ladies’
board has been very busy determining the calendar for 2009. For those of you
who like to plan ahead, make note that The Mission Belles will be held Sept 29 – Oct 1, 2009.
I cannot
close without once again congratulating Carolyn McGuire, Marcia Smith, and their committee for running such an extraordinary
Mini- Member Guest last week! What a success!
The food was fabulous and the day ran seamlessly! Thanks for showing us
off so well!
Don’t
forget to sign up for Maintenance Appreciation Day and the Sr. Men/LCOM tournament on August 14th. And speaking of Seniors, for those who qualify, the Ladies Sr. Club Championship is starting on Aug 28th . Sign ups are on the
ForeTees just waiting for you!!
See you out
there...Suzi

News of Sue Pebley's Eagle:
"My eagle was on #13. I hit an 8 iron onto the green and when
I got to the green I could not find my ball. After searching around the fringe, I looked in the hole and there was the ball. The pin was over the ridge, so I could not see the ball after it landed
on the green. I was playing with Georgianna, Shana, and Charlene. Since I
have yet to have a hole in one, this was my closest to that experience! I have had two other
eagles but both were on par 5’s where I chipped in from the fringe at St.
Andrews and the other was in Utah (where the ball goes
lots further) where I was on the
green in 2 and sunk a long putt."
Congratulations
Ladies!

Mini-Member Guest Tournament
~ Carolyn McGuire & Marcia Smith ~
Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much
Our ladies had a wonderful day “living, laughing and loving” during this tournament. A total of 92 ladies had a breakfast and delicious snacks. We played golf and then enjoyed an outstanding lunch. We
owe our committee of Marie DiDonato, Sheryl Sauer and Barbara Behrens a huge “Thank
You”. The pro shop and Robin were extremely helpful and we appreciate
that. Ray and Lisa, plus all the Food and Beverage servers, did a SUPER job and
our guests were so impressed.
Need a gift for a special friend? We
have extra silver letter openers for sale @ $10 each and extra key chains @ $5 each. If interested, please see Marcia.

RULES
~ GEORGIANNA HALES ~
WSCGA
RULES EDUCATION COMMITTEE "GEMS":
A ball incorrectly
substituted, dropped or placed in a wrong place or otherwise not in accordance with the Rules but not played may be lifted,
without penalty, and the player must then proceed correctly.
At any time, during the play of a hole, the player may,
under penalty of one stoke, play a ball as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last
played.
One stroke penalties in Stroke play = one stroke in Match play Two stroke penalties in Stroke play = loss
of hole in Match play (generally)
Free drops = nearest point of relief = one club length relief.
Penalty
drop = unplayable ball = two clubs lengths from where ball lies.
Dropping = Player must drop her ball. Placing
= Player or her partner must place. Replacing = Player, her partner, or anyone who lifted or moved it
must replace the ball. (Remember: Easy as 1, 2, 3)
Relief -- Movable Obstruction -- Obstruction must be moved.
(anywhere on course).
Relief -- Immovable Obstruction = Ball must be moved.
A ball to be replaced must be
marked.
Must correct: Stroke Play 1. Failure to hole out 2. Play from outside teeing ground 3.
Playing a wrong ball 4. Playing from a Wrong Place, provided a serious breach has occurred.
NINE-HOLERS
~ KATHERINE SZEM ~
Well, July has been a productive month for our 9-holers.
Many of the ladies are shooting 9-hole scores in the 50's - this is a major accomplishment! We are learning the rules
and different kinds of format to play. Best of all, we are making life-long friends.
August should prove to be exciting as well. In addition to helping out at the Club Championship General
Meeting Day, the 9-holers are going to be playing a 9-hole game on Maintenance Appreciation Day on August 14 (our normal
Tuesday play will be substituted for this Thursday event) and a special section of sign-ups is shown on ForeTees for the event.
So hurry up and sign-up. Don't forget to pay your $25 to Jeri Rimel, locker # 79, made payable to LCOM if you are planning
to participate.
Please help spread the word on our 9-holer program. Just give them my name, telephone # 949-248-1456
or e-mail, kszem@earthlink.net. Hugs, Katherine
FALL TEAM
~ Maria Barger & Patrish Stites
~
After getting off to a rocky start due to a change regarding participation of players, we are now off and running,
or as we say on Team…a hoppin’ and a rockin’.
Although we lost some girls, we still have what appears to be a very strong team. We are almost through our practices and participation was excellent.
Our first match is in August and I am sure we will not only look ever so adorable, but we will be ready to kick bunzzz!
We are a team of bunnies and our mission is to make it to the end of our season with little or few fatalities. Our goal is of course - to get to the PARTY (and playing some competitive golf in
between). We stand united
in this endeavor with our little ears erect while quietly hoping that one day we will become players on “Spring”
Team. But only if they have parties!
COUPLES CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
~ SALLY ORGERA ~
Our Couples Club Championship was held July 26th &
27th and it was definitely exciting for the participants. The Pro Shop did a fabulous job preparing for this event and it
was a pleasure to work with Robin, Stephen, James and Jeff in the Pro Shop who handled all the details to make our tournament
a success. Thanks to Lisa Webster for coordinating the food and beverage for the dinner where the winners were announced.

LIBRARY NOTICE
~ Marie DiDonato ~
Our Library is temporarily
closed due to Sewer back-up into the Ladies' Locker Room. Please give any returning books to one of the attendants
for safe keeping. Please don't try to put any books on the shelves. Thank you.
"OFF THE COURSE"
BUT FOR THE RECORD
Betsy Woodhouse definitely has the record for carts off the course now. Her cart ended
up in the barranca on #15 after the brake failed. Fortunately, no one was hurt and for the record, the Woodhouses
will be celebrating their 50th on September 6th. |

A special thanks to all those submitting articles for the newsletter
before the 25th. I would like to congratulate Helen for being the first to submit her article...the Editor's Early Birdie!
Last month I requested our readers to ask Suzi O if
she made the putt. This was a test to see how many of you read the newsletter from top to bottom. She only had one person
ask the question.
